Cypriot football federation hosts annual refereeing seminar
The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) launched its annual three-day Refereeing Seminar for first-category officials on August 19, 2026, at the Hilton Nicosia. The event, which concludes on August 21, serves as a crucial preparation phase for the 2026-2027 football season, covering training for international referees, assistant referees, VAR/AVAR specialists, and match observers.
During the opening, CFA President Charis Loizidis emphasized the federation’s commitment to relying exclusively on Cypriot referees throughout the upcoming season, building on the success of the previous year. Alongside Refereeing Committee Chairman Antonio Damato and other federation officials, leadership addressed participants on the importance of overcoming bias and adapting to new UEFA regulatory standards to improve performance levels.
Prior to the seminar's commencement, the federation held a graduation ceremony for new referees who completed the CFA Academy program. Diplomas were presented by top federation officials, marking the start of the graduates' professional paths within the organization. The ongoing seminar serves as a formal platform for final preparations before the official start of domestic football competitions.
