Two elderly individuals die in separate accidents in Crete

Two separate fatal accidents involving elderly individuals occurred in Crete within two days. On Sunday, August 16, 2026, an 81-year-old woman died after falling while attempting to board a bus in Anissaras, Hersonissos. She hit the back of her head on the pavement and, despite being transported by ambulance to a hospital in Heraklion, succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.

Separately, on Tuesday morning, August 18, 2026, an 85-year-old man was killed in an agricultural accident in the Municipality of Minoa Pediadas. The man was operating a three-wheeled agricultural vehicle when he collided with a tree. His body was discovered by his son, who had gone looking for him in the family field. Authorities have documented both incidents as tragic accidents, concluding that the victims died due to severe trauma sustained in these respective events.
