Traffic adjustments and road work in Larnaca starting August 24

Starting Monday, August 24, 2026, the Municipality of Larnaca will implement traffic restrictions to facilitate electricity infrastructure works by the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) under the project "Interconnection of 132kV Substations Pyla GIS and Larnaca Commercial Center (EAC 202/2024)." Traffic will be diverted on the Larnaca-Dhekelia road (Ammochostou Avenue) through contraflow measures, with lane restrictions scheduled to remain in place until Friday, November 13, 2026.

Additionally, Luther King Street will be converted into a one-way road between Spyrou Kyprianou and Psiloriti streets. Traffic will be restricted to a northbound direction, while southbound traffic will be diverted according to official plans. These specific works are expected to conclude on Friday, September 11, 2026. The municipality has apologized for the temporary inconvenience and requested public cooperation.

Separately, the Department of Forests will perform irrigation maintenance along various highways, including those connecting Larnaca-Kofinou, Larnaca-Nicosia, and the airport, until September 30, 2026. These works will partially close road shoulders but are not expected to disrupt general traffic flow. Furthermore, inspections of emergency doors on the Larnaca-Paralimni highway central reservation will take place between August 24 and August 28, 2026.
