Olympiacos undergoes significant squad overhaul with new signings and departures

Olympiacos is undergoing a major roster transformation as the summer transfer window nears its conclusion. The club has secured the signing of 23-year-old Mexican forward Armando Gonzalez from Chivas Guadalajara. The deal is valued at approximately 8.5 million euros plus 2 million euros in bonuses, with a 20% sell-on clause, and includes a four-year contract, though some reports suggest it could be a five-year agreement. Gonzalez is expected to arrive in Greece to finalize the move.

Simultaneously, the club is trimming its squad to accommodate these changes. Veteran forward Mehdi Taremi is set to depart for the Dubai-based club Al Wasl after a one-year stint in which he scored 16 goals in 39 appearances. Taremi has already visited the training facility to bid farewell to his teammates. Additional departures, including Roman Yaremchuk and Clayton, are expected as manager Jose Luis Mendilibar reshapes the attack. Furthermore, the club is actively seeking a new right-back; while Pablo Maffeo is no longer considered an option, Olympiacos is currently in negotiations with Wolfsburg’s Joakim Maehle to address the defensive gap before the season opener against Atromitos on August 22.
