Ministry of education announces 2026-2027 school year schedule

The Ministry of Education has released the official academic calendar for the 2026-2027 school year for all secondary general and technical education institutions in Cyprus. Teachers are scheduled to return to their duties on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, with professional development seminars for inspectors running through September 4. Students at Gymnasiums, Lyceums, and technical schools will begin classes on Monday, September 7, 2026.

The schedule establishes the structure for two academic semesters. For Gymnasiums, the first term ends on January 15, 2027, with progress reports issued between January 21 and 22. The second term commences on January 18, 2027, and concludes on May 21, 2027. Designated 'Teacher Days,' serving as professional development sessions, are set for December 8, 2026, and February 10, 2027; students will not attend school on these dates. Additionally, pre-enrollment for new first-year Gymnasium students for the 2027-2028 academic year is scheduled for February and March 2027.
