Maccabi Haifa pursues loan move for Loizos Loizou from Red Star Belgrade

Maccabi Haifa is seeking to acquire Cypriot winger Loizos Loizou on loan from Red Star Belgrade. The Israeli club initiated contact following a serious injury to their midfielder, Manuel Benson, which has left the team looking for reinforcements on the attacking flanks.

Loizou, 22, joined the Serbian side for a transfer fee of 3.5 million euros but has struggled to make an immediate impact at the club. His previous performance in Israel, where he recorded nine goals and seven assists in 40 appearances, makes him a primary target for Maccabi Haifa. Reports suggest an official approach has been made to secure his services until the end of the current season.

The final decision regarding the move rests with Red Star Belgrade manager Albert Riera. He is currently evaluating the player's performance to determine if Loizou remains part of the team's long-term plans or if he should be allowed to leave on loan to regain form.
