Recent anti-drug operations in Cyprus result in multiple arrests and significant seizures
Cypriot authorities conducted a series of anti-drug operations across Larnaca and Limassol between August 20 and 22, 2026. In Larnaca, YKAN police arrested three men aged 23, 31, and 32 after raiding a home and a field, seizing nearly one kilogram of cannabis, over €13,000 in cash, and pyrotechnics. During the operation, a 31-year-old suspect attempted to flee by ramming three police vehicles, causing a minor injury to an officer. All three individuals were remanded in custody for eight days by the Larnaca District Court.
Simultaneously, a separate operation in Limassol led to the arrest of four individuals, including a 20-year-old woman, her 38-year-old mother, and two brothers aged 23 and 32. Police confiscated over 650 grams of cannabis, a quantity of cannabis resin, an air pistol, and over €2,700 in cash. A Limassol court ordered a seven-day remand for three of the suspects. Separately, at Larnaca Airport, a 25-year-old man was arrested upon arrival after customs officials discovered 25 kilograms of cannabis inside his luggage. Investigations into all three cases remain ongoing as authorities continue to monitor drug trafficking routes.
