Three suspects arrested in Larnaca after drug raid and police collision

On August 19, 2026, members of Cyprus’s Anti-Drugs Unit (YKAN) conducted a major operation in Larnaca targeting an alleged drug trafficking network. The police searched the residence of a 32-year-old man, where they detained his 23-year-old relative after finding €13,250 in cash, four firecrackers, and two flares. The 32-year-old suspect was not present initially but later became a subject of the investigation.

While officers searched a field belonging to the 32-year-old, a 31-year-old man approached in a vehicle. When signaled to stop, he attempted to flee, colliding with three police vehicles. A YKAN officer sustained minor hand injuries during the incident and was briefly hospitalized. Authorities ultimately seized nearly one kilogram of cannabis during the operation. On August 20, the Larnaca District Court ordered an eight-day detention for all three suspects, aged 23, 31, and 32, as the investigation into drug distribution continues.
