26-year-old arrested in Famagusta following discovery of cocaine stash

On August 14, 2026, the Cyprus Anti-Drugs Unit (YKAN) conducted a search under a judicial warrant at an apartment in the Famagusta district. The operation, which took place in the presence of the apartment complex’s deputy manager, resulted in the discovery of 500 grams of cocaine in a nylon bag and an additional 5 grams scattered on a bed.

Following the search, authorities issued an arrest warrant for the 26-year-old tenant of the apartment. The suspect was taken into custody on August 19, 2026, and is scheduled to appear before the Famagusta District Court on the morning of August 20 for remand proceedings. This operation is part of ongoing efforts by YKAN to combat drug trafficking in the region, and investigations into the matter are currently active.
