Arson investigation follows clothing store fire in Limassol
An arson attack occurred in the early hours of August 21, 2026, targeting a clothing store located on the ground floor of an apartment building in the Agios Nikolaos area of Limassol. The fire broke out shortly after 3:00 a.m., causing extensive damage to the premises before it was successfully extinguished by the Fire Service. No injuries were reported, and the blaze did not spread to the residential apartments above.
Police authorities cordoned off the area to conduct forensic examinations, which have yielded evidence of malicious intent. The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is leading the inquiry. Recent reports indicate that investigators are focusing their efforts on a specific individual currently held in custody at the Central Prisons regarding an unrelated domestic violence case. As the investigation progresses, authorities are collecting witness statements and physical evidence to identify those responsible for the destruction of the property, which is owned by a 25-year-old woman.
