Recent fire incidents in Limassol and Farmakas under investigation

Authorities in Cyprus are investigating three separate fire incidents reported between August 20 and 21, 2026. On the evening of August 20, a vehicle parked at a residence in Moni, Limassol, caught fire, causing extensive damage to the car and the nearby building's exterior door. Firefighters from the Agios Nikolaos station contained the blaze by 9:09 pm.

Separately, in the early hours of August 21, a clothing store located on the ground floor of an apartment building in the Agios Nikolaos area of Limassol was damaged by fire. Police suspect arson, and the case is currently being investigated by the Limassol CID. The scene remains sealed for forensic examination.

Additionally, on the evening of August 20, a fire broke out at a quarry in Farmakas, damaging the front portion of an excavator. Employees at the site managed to extinguish the flames before emergency services arrived. Investigations into the causes of all three incidents are currently ongoing to determine if there were criminal motives.
