Cypriot students face rising housing costs and accommodation shortages

Following the recent announcement of university entrance exam results in Cyprus, students and their families are reporting significant difficulties in securing affordable housing. Market experts indicate that rental prices have soared across the country, with costs heavily influenced by property location, age, and available amenities. Limassol remains the most expensive region, particularly for properties located near city centers and university campuses, despite the recent addition of new student residences in many cities.

Marios Kambouris, President of the General Secretariat of POFEN federations, stated that finding affordable accommodation is the primary challenge for incoming students. He noted that the organization is currently coordinating meetings with relevant government ministries to propose potential solutions to the housing crisis. As many students await results for placements in Greece, concerns persist that current financial support, such as housing allowances, is insufficient to address the ongoing economic burden on students and their families.
