Cyprus teacher unions to meet on education reforms

The three major Cypriot educational organizations—POED, OELMEK, and OLTEK—have scheduled a meeting for Tuesday, August 25, 2026, to discuss recent government proposals. The meeting will take place at 12:00 at the POED headquarters in Nicosia to address key institutional changes.

The primary focus of the agenda is the Ministry of Education, Sports, and Youth (YPAN) proposal regarding a new appointment system for teachers. Furthermore, the organizations intend to evaluate the Ministry of Labor’s recent proposal concerning pension reform.
