Migrant boat arrives at La Manga Club beach in Spain
On Wednesday, August 19, 2026, a small boat carrying approximately 62 migrants reached the shore at Cala del Barco, a beach adjacent to the La Manga Club tourist complex in the Cartagena region of southeastern Spain. The arrival occurred around 1:00 PM, causing surprise among tourists who observed the passengers jumping into the water and swimming the final distance to the coast before dispersing. Initial reports estimated the group at around 60 people, but official confirmation from the Spanish Guardia Civil later identified 62 individuals.
The group, consisting of 45 adult men, two adult women, and 15 male minors, was intercepted by the Guardia Civil following multiple emergency calls to the 112 service. All individuals were reported to be in good health and received initial medical assistance from the Red Cross. Following the intervention, the migrants were handed over to the National Police (Policía Nacional), and established protocols for processing such arrivals were activated. The original boat involved in the transport departed the scene immediately after the passengers disembarked.
