Arson attack on wedding venue in Birmingham

On Wednesday, August 19, 2026, around 20:30, an attack occurred at the Royal Shalimar banquet hall on Highgate Road in the Sparkbrook area of Birmingham. Three men dressed in black targeted a wedding event, deploying five incendiary devices and setting fire to two luxury vehicles, identified as a Lamborghini and a McLaren.

Despite the dangerous nature of the incident, with incendiary devices landing near guests, no injuries were reported. Social media footage captured the panic as attendees fled the venue while thick smoke billowed from the burning supercars.

The West Midlands Police have launched an official investigation into the attack. Authorities are currently reviewing security camera footage and collecting statements from eyewitnesses to identify the suspects, who were captured on video arriving at the scene before the incident.
