Australian man arrested in Thailand following death of 17-year-old

On June 27, 2026, the body of 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla was discovered in a suitcase near railway tracks in Pattaya, Thailand. The discovery occurred just 15 minutes after authorities arrested 45-year-old Australian national Simon Peter Karman, who was allegedly preparing to flee the country.

Aneck Srathongyu, the chief of the Pattaya police, stated that a forensic examination determined the cause of death to be asphyxia. Although investigators identified brain injuries, they concluded these were likely sustained post-mortem during the process of placing the body into the suitcase. DNA evidence found on the victim's remains has been matched to Karman, further linking him to the scene.

Authorities have officially charged Karman with four criminal counts related to the death of the teenager. The investigation remains ongoing as police compile evidence against the suspect.
