British bases police report 26 arrests in western Cyprus

The British Bases (BB) Police in the western region of Cyprus announced that a total of 26 arrests were made during the past week as part of heightened law enforcement efforts. These actions included extensive traffic enforcement, with 30 out-of-court fines issued, 47 written warnings delivered, and 30 alcohol and three drug tests conducted.

On August 16, officers apprehended three individuals following a vehicle stop. The driver tested positive for crystal methamphetamine, and police recovered equipment related to drug use. The two passengers were subsequently arrested for illegal residency on the island. In a separate incident, a woman was placed in custody by court order following her arrest for possession of drugs with the intent to supply. Additionally, the Marine Police Unit maintained a significant presence, conducting 25 maritime patrols and inspecting 46 vessels and 158 individuals.
