Apollon Limassol focuses on league start after European exit
Following their elimination from European competition by Brann, Apollon Limassol has shifted its full attention toward the Cypriot domestic league. Head coach Hernan Losada is currently utilizing a friendly match against Nea Salamina, scheduled for the evening at the Ammochostos stadium, to finalize his tactical approach and test new personnel before the official league kickoff.
Apollon is set to play their season opener against Aris Limassol on August 29 at 20:00. The squad faces significant selection challenges for the start of the season, as players Brandon Thomas and Weisbeck are suspended for the first two matchdays. Additionally, Josef Kvinda and Gary Rodrigues are confirmed to be sidelined due to injury. In response, coaching staff are expected to field Emanuel Aivaz and Leonidas Konomis in central defense, with expectations for increased playing time for Joel Asoro and Iké Ugbo.
The club maintains high ambitions, targeting both the league title and the Cup, while seeking to secure European qualification for the upcoming year. Approximately 500 supporters are expected to attend the friendly test against Nea Salamina as the team prepares to overcome these early setbacks.
