Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has purchased Strancally Castle, a historic 19th-century gothic property in County Waterford, Ireland, for approximately 30 million euros. The transaction was finalized in August 2026, with the sellers identified as British businessman Michael Allen-Buckley and his wife, Giancarla, who is a member of the Forte family known for their luxury hotel operations.

The three-story stone castle, which was originally constructed in 1827 for an English politician, overlooks a river in the southeastern region of Ireland. The location is situated roughly 200 kilometers away from the European headquarters of Meta, which are located in Dublin. A spokesperson confirmed the acquisition on August 20, 2026, following the emergence of drone imagery showing the estate.

This purchase adds to Zuckerberg's growing portfolio of international real estate assets. While the acquisition of such historic properties is a common practice among high-net-worth individuals, the specific interest in Irish heritage sites underscores a trend of significant investment by technology magnates in European landmarks.
