Driver flees scene after crashing and overturning car in Lakatamia

A traffic accident occurred on Friday morning, August 21, 2026, on Agiou Georgiou Avenue in the Anthoupoli area of Lakatamia, Nicosia. According to reports from the police, a vehicle driven by a man collided with a parked car around 8:00 a.m. The force of the impact caused the moving vehicle to overturn on the road. Fortunately, the parked vehicle was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported among other road users.

Following the collision, the driver of the vehicle exited his car and fled the scene on foot. Police from the Lakatamia station arrived shortly after to secure the area and initiate an investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Authorities are currently searching for the missing driver, who remains at large. A recovery vehicle was summoned to remove the overturned car from the roadway to restore traffic flow.
