Commissioner of Environment and Paphos EOA discuss local infrastructure and animal welfare

On August 21, 2026, the Commissioner for the Environment and Animal Welfare, Ilias Myrianthous, met with the President of the Paphos District Self-Government Organization (EOA), Charalambos Pittokopitis, at the EOA offices in Paphos. The discussion focused on critical regional matters, including environmental protection, the management of water resources, and the development of essential local infrastructure.

A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to establish a formal communication channel between the two entities to streamline administrative cooperation. Among the primary topics was the creation and operation of animal shelters in the Paphos district. President Pittokopitis assured the Commissioner that the EOA is prepared to facilitate the necessary licensing procedures to ensure these facilities can proceed, marking a collaborative step toward improving animal welfare standards in the province.
