New service hub inaugurated in Kato Pyrgos Tillyria
On August 21, 2026, the Nicosia District Self-Government Organization (EOA) inaugurated a new service hub in Kato Pyrgos, Tillyria. The initiative, led by Nicosia EOA President Constantinos Yiorkadjis, aims to ensure equitable access to services for residents of remote areas, removing the burden of traveling to the capital.
The hub is staffed locally to support youth retention in the area. Alongside the hub's opening, officials announced recent infrastructure projects, including €200,000 invested in upgrading the local water supply network and reservoir cleaning for irrigation. Furthermore, the EOA plans to launch a €10 million tender for the construction of a new sewerage system for Kato Pyrgos.
Nicos Kleanthous, president of the Kato Pyrgos community, welcomed the development as a sign of respect toward the local population. The project aligns with broader local government reforms intended to decentralize service provision. The hub serves as a practical step toward improving administrative efficiency and technical support in the region, with further infrastructure developments currently in the pipeline.
