Nicosia district organization opens new service hub in Kato Pyrgos
On August 21, 2026, the Nicosia District Organization (EOA) officially inaugurated a new service hub in the remote area of Kato Pyrgos, Tilliria. The initiative, led by EOA President Konstantinos Giorkatzis, aims to ensure equitable access to local government services for residents of the isolated region, eliminating the need for them to travel to Nicosia for administrative procedures.
According to President Giorkatzis, the hub serves as a practical application of the recent local government reforms, prioritizing decentralized service delivery regardless of a citizen's geographic location. The facility will provide direct administrative and technical support to the local population. Notably, the staff for the new office were recruited specifically from among the local residents to support the regional labor market and encourage younger generations to remain in the area.
This development marks a significant shift in how the local administration manages remote territories. By bringing institutional support directly to Tilliria, the organization intends to foster regional growth and reduce the administrative burden on the community. Future plans focus on sustaining this localized operational model to maintain consistent quality of service for the area's inhabitants.
