Fatal motorcycle crash claims life of 30-year-old in Larnaca

A 30-year-old man, Georgios Georgiou, died following a head-on collision on the Kellia-Troulloi road in Larnaca on Sunday, August 23, 2026. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. when the high-powered motorcycle he was operating reportedly veered into the opposite lane while entering a bend and struck a saloon car. The car was occupied by a 28-year-old female driver, a 32-year-old passenger, and two children, aged two and four. While the family escaped serious physical injury and was discharged from the hospital after receiving care, Georgiou was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Larnaca General Hospital.

Preliminary investigations by the Larnaca Traffic Police indicate that the motorcycle belonged to another individual and that Georgiou was not wearing a protective helmet. An autopsy performed by medical examiner Nicolas Charalambous confirmed the cause of death as severe craniocerebral trauma resulting from the accident. Breathalyzer and drug tests conducted on the driver of the car returned negative results. The Larnaca District Local Government Organisation, where the victim was employed, has expressed deep condolences, and further investigations into the exact causes and circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
