Retired police officer kills partner at Antalya Airport

On August 21, 2026, a violent incident occurred at the parking area of Terminal 2 at Antalya Airport in Turkey. A 52-year-old retired police officer, identified as Huseyin Durmaz, fatally shot his 38-year-old partner, Elina Sengun, a Georgian national who worked as a sales consultant at the airport. Using his service weapon, Durmaz attacked the woman, who was a mother of two, following a history of alleged threats. Local emergency services responded to the scene, but despite medical intervention, Sengun succumbed to her injuries.

The perpetrator was apprehended by law enforcement officers at the scene immediately following the attack. Reports indicate that the couple had been in a relationship for approximately two years, and the suspect had reportedly been stalking and threatening the victim prior to the shooting. After failing to find her at home earlier that morning, Durmaz proceeded to her workplace at the airport to carry out the attack.
