Cyprus UEFA coefficient update following playoff matches

Cypriot clubs completed their first-leg playoff matches on August 21, 2026, resulting in one defeat and one draw. Omonia Nicosia suffered a 0-1 loss to Sint-Truiden in the Europa League, while Pafos FC secured a 1-1 draw against Dinamo City in the Conference League. These results added 125 points to the national coefficient, bringing Cyprus to a total of 33.693 points and maintaining its 15th position in the UEFA rankings.

This ranking is critical as it guarantees five European competition slots and two Champions League representatives for the 2028-29 season. However, competition for this position remains intense. Norway, currently in 14th place with 35.412 points, increased its lead over Cyprus by 125 points this week, widening the gap to 1.719 points. Due to having more active teams in the league phases, Norway maintains a significant structural advantage. Additionally, Switzerland is closing in from the 16th position, trailing Cyprus by 3.473 points, further threatening the country's current standing in the European rankings.
