Stoiximan Super League 2026/27 season begins

The 68th edition of the Greek top-flight football championship, the 2026/27 Stoiximan Super League, kicks off on August 22-23, 2026. The opening weekend features matches across three days, with the AEK Athens versus Iraklis and Kalamata versus Aris games starting simultaneously on Saturday, August 22, at 20:00. Olympiacos will host Atromitos later that evening at 21:30. Sunday’s fixtures include OFI versus Volos at 19:30 and PAOK versus Levadiakos at 21:00. Notably, the Panathinaikos versus Kifisia match has been postponed upon the request of Panathinaikos due to their European competition schedule.

Preparations have been marked by high spirits, with AEK coach Marko Nikolic expressing his dedication to the league, emphasizing the importance of defending the title. On the operational side, the newly promoted Kalamata side will play their initial home matches at the Tripoli stadium until their own facility, the National Beach Stadium, is ready. Officials for the weekend games have been appointed, with Michail Matsoukas overseeing AEK-Iraklis and Alexandros Tsakalidis officiating the Olympiacos-Atromitos clash. The league continues its tradition of splitting the opening round across multiple dates to accommodate team requirements.
