Police investigate spree of ten burglaries and vandalism in Paphos

Early on Saturday morning, August 22, 2026, four hooded individuals on a single motorcycle carried out a series of burglaries and acts of vandalism across the Paphos district. Between 03:00 and 05:30, the perpetrators targeted ten commercial premises, including three pharmacies, three gas stations, two small supermarkets, and two kiosks. The incidents occurred in various areas, including Paphos city, Kato Paphos, Chlorakas, Tala, Empa, and Pegeia. The total value of stolen goods and cash is estimated at approximately 4,000 euros, though the total cost of property damage has yet to be calculated.

Police initially investigated potential links between these attacks and an earlier police operation in the Moutallos neighborhood, which followed unrest involving food delivery riders. However, subsequent evidence and the organized nature of the spree have led authorities to explore the possibility of a professional criminal gang with similar activity in other provinces, such as Larnaca and Nicosia. The white motorcycle used by the suspects was later recovered and found to have been stolen on the same night. The investigation remains ongoing as police analyze surveillance footage and forensic evidence to identify and apprehend the four individuals involved.
