Vandalism and robberies hit multiple businesses in Paphos
On the night of August 22, 2026, a group of hooded individuals on motorcycles conducted a series of coordinated attacks on commercial properties across the Paphos district, specifically affecting the communities of Tala, Chloraka, and the broader area. Between seven and eight businesses, including a pharmacy, a cafeteria, a gas station, and a fruit shop, sustained damage to glass storefronts caused by thrown stones.
While reports vary on the specific extent of the damage, it is confirmed that goods such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and perfumes were stolen from at least one pharmacy. In other instances, such as the cafeteria in Tala, the perpetrators reportedly smashed the glass entrance without entering the premises. Police recovered an abandoned motorcycle in the area, which is believed to be connected to the group.
Authorities are investigating the possibility that these attacks were retaliatory, following a police operation against youth delinquency in the Mouttalos area. Law enforcement is currently reviewing security camera footage from the affected locations to identify the suspects. The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to collect evidence to establish the identities and motives of the perpetrators.
