APOEL transfers striker Nikolas Koutsakos to IK Start

APOEL Nicosia has officially confirmed the transfer of 22-year-old forward Nikolas Koutsakos to the Norwegian club IK Start. The agreement was finalized on August 24, 2026, following negotiations that resulted in a sale price of 550,000 euros. Additionally, the Cypriot club retains a 15% sell-on clause regarding any future transfer of the player.

Koutsakos, who spent 16 years within the APOEL youth and professional ranks, expressed his gratitude to the club in a farewell message as he seeks to advance his career in the Norwegian first division. The management at APOEL chose to accept the offer to support the player's ambition while simultaneously addressing the club's financial requirements. The team has sold four players in the last eight months, totaling approximately 2.5 million euros in revenue, a strategy aimed at stabilizing the club's current financial situation.

Following this departure, APOEL is actively looking to reinforce its attacking line before the season commences. With Pieros Sotiriou sidelined until November due to injury, the club currently relies on limited options in the forward position, making the acquisition of a new striker an urgent priority for the team's management.
