APOEL nears signing of Croatian goalkeeper Oliver Zelenika
APOEL is in advanced stages of recruiting 33-year-old Croatian goalkeeper Oliver Zelenika to bolster their defensive squad. Zelenika, who stands 1.92 meters tall, has been a core member of the Croatian club Varaždin since 2020. During the previous season, he recorded 32 appearances and maintained a clean sheet in nine matches. The interest from the Nicosia-based club is reportedly driven by sporting director Zisis Vryzas, who has identified the experienced player as a priority target.
Following initial reports of interest, recent developments on August 22, 2026, indicate that the deal is nearing completion. Zelenika has reportedly already passed his medical examinations. Unless there are unforeseen complications, he is expected to finalize his move to the Cypriot side. Zelenika's career began in the Dinamo Zagreb academy, followed by stints at Rudeš, Lokomotiva Zagreb, Lechia Gdańsk in Poland, and NEC Nijmegen in the Netherlands, providing him with extensive professional experience across several European leagues.
