Cyprus announces 20 million euro energy upgrade grant scheme for households

The Cypriot Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry is set to launch the third call for applications for the "Save – Upgrade in Residences 2026" grant scheme in September 2026. Part of the "THALIA 2021–2027" program, this initiative is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Republic of Cyprus, with a total budget of 20 million euros dedicated to the energy renovation of existing residential properties.

Eligible natural persons may receive funding for various improvements, including thermal insulation, frame replacement, solar water heaters, high-efficiency heat pumps, air conditioning systems, and photovoltaic systems with net-billing or energy storage batteries. Maximum grant amounts are set at 32,000 euros for Type A investments and 24,000 euros for Type B, though individual allocations will depend on the final implementation guide. Professional expert services are also covered under the scheme.

This project follows similar initiatives announced in May and aims to promote sustainable energy usage across the country. Interested applicants are advised to prepare for the upcoming September announcement, at which point the official application portal will provide the definitive guide for submission requirements and exact funding criteria.
