Cyprus weather forecast: heatwave continues with seasonal low pressure
Cyprus is currently experiencing the effects of a seasonal low-pressure system, leading to sustained high temperatures across the island. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach approximately 39°C inland, 31-35°C along the coasts, and around 30°C in the higher mountain regions. These conditions are consistently above seasonal averages and are expected to persist throughout the week.
Weather conditions will remain mostly clear, though localized cloud cover is anticipated during the afternoon, particularly in mountainous areas. Meteorological services indicate a possibility of isolated showers on Tuesday and Thursday in the mountains. Nights will be clear, with some low cloud formation and potential mist or fog in inland and eastern areas during the early morning hours. Winds are expected to be light to moderate, reaching up to 5 Beaufort in some coastal areas during the afternoon.
Meteorological officials suggest that if temperatures continue to hit the 40°C threshold, yellow warnings for extreme heat could be issued. A slight decrease in temperature by approximately 2°C is expected to begin on Thursday. Residents and visitors are advised to monitor official updates as the high temperatures are forecast to continue without significant relief until at least mid-week.
