Minor found safe after overnight search in Avakas Gorge

A 16-year-old of Russian origin was safely located during an overnight rescue operation in the Avakas Gorge, Paphos, on August 22, 2026. Authorities were alerted to the missing minor and initiated a coordinated search at approximately 22:40, following a request from the Police to the Fire Service.

The search operation involved multiple agencies, including four members of the Paphos Fire Service and an EMAK unit equipped with a vehicle and three trained search dogs. The police deployed two vehicles with two officers and a duty officer, while the Civil Defense contributed a 12-person team and a drone equipped with thermal imaging technology. The teenager was discovered by the Fire Service team, found to be in good health and without any injuries.
