Ayia Napa Mayor presents strategic vision for newly unified municipality

On August 22, 2026, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Christos Zannettou, unveiled a new strategic plan titled "Five Communities – One Municipal Vision" at the Medieval Monastery of Ayia Napa. The presentation marked the beginning of the three-day "Ayia Napa of Flavors" festival. This strategy aims to coordinate the development of five municipal districts: Ayia Napa, Sotira, Liopetri, Avgorou, and Achna, following their recent administrative consolidation.

The plan focuses on creating a modern, cohesive municipality by integrating tourism and culture with gastronomy, local agricultural production, environmental sustainability, entrepreneurship, and social development. Zannettou emphasized the necessity of supporting local artists, creators, and cultural organizations to strengthen the municipality's identity and international presence. The event was also attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Christos.

The strategic initiative seeks to move beyond individual interests, establishing a unified municipal design. By leveraging the specific advantages of each community, the local government intends to foster holistic growth. Future efforts will prioritize the implementation of these integrated policies to ensure the long-term economic and social stability of the expanded municipality.
