Cyprus launches new financial tools to support farmers
On August 23, 2026, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Christos Senekis announced the implementation of new financing opportunities for farmers in Cyprus. During the 'Ston Rythmo tis Portokalias' event in Mamonia, the Minister emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening the primary sector and revitalizing rural communities.
The primary focus of this initiative is a newly created financing instrument designed to address liquidity issues faced by producers after their investment plans are approved. Farmers who receive approval for investments under the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 2023–2027 will now be able to access funding through participating banking institutions. This measure aims to facilitate the execution of primary sector investments and ensure the long-term sustainability of rural areas.
According to Minister Senekis, the ultimate goal of the government is to create the necessary conditions for young people to remain in or return to their local communities to build their professional futures. This initiative follows the broader framework of the CAP 2023–2027, focusing on structural support for the agricultural economy.
