Arson attacks target multiple vehicles in Limassol
Two separate arson incidents occurred in the Limassol district during the early hours of Sunday, August 23, 2026. The second incident took place in the Trachoni area, where emergency services were alerted at approximately 1:47 a.m. regarding a fire targeting vehicles parked near the community council offices.
According to Fire Service spokesman Andreas Kettis, two vehicles were extensively damaged by the blaze, while a third vehicle nearby sustained damage to its paintwork. Following an on-site examination, authorities confirmed that the fire was started deliberately. Because the location falls under the jurisdiction of the British Bases, their police force has assumed responsibility for the ongoing investigation into the criminal act.
These incidents mark a concerning night for local authorities, as the Trachoni attack followed another arson case reported earlier in the same district. Police are currently conducting inquiries to determine the motive behind the attacks and identify any suspects involved, raising broader public safety concerns among local residents regarding the recent surge in criminal activity in the region.
