Woman arrested for murder of husband in Gerolakkos

A 49-year-old woman was arrested in the occupied village of Gerolakkos on Saturday evening after she killed her 52-year-old husband. According to police investigators who presented the case at the Nicosia district court on Sunday, the suspect, identified as E.T., attacked her husband, J.I.T., while he was sleeping in their bedroom. She used an 11-centimeter kitchen knife to inflict multiple fatal wounds to his neck, back, and waist.

Following the incident, the woman surrendered to the police. During the court hearing, investigators stated that the motive for the crime was the suspect's belief that her husband intended to steal her belongings. The court has ordered a three-day detention for the suspect and mandated that she undergo medical examinations. The investigation is ongoing as authorities process the evidence and assess the suspect's condition.
