Forest fire contained in Klirou, Nicosia

A forest fire occurred on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in the village of Klirou within the Nicosia district. The incident began at 3:11 pm, prompting an immediate mobilization of local firefighting authorities.

Following the rapid intervention by the Forestry Department, the fire was brought under full control at 3:40 pm, approximately 30 minutes after it started. The operation involved 10 personnel from the Forestry Department and three fire engines. The blaze resulted in damage to a small area consisting of dry grass and olive trees. Fortunately, the site was located in close proximity to residential homes, but the timely response prevented further escalation.
