Police officer arrested in Thessaloniki for alleged sexual abuse

A 48-year-old police officer was arrested in Thessaloniki on August 22, 2026, following allegations made by his 51-year-old former partner. The woman, who is reportedly wheelchair-bound, accused the officer of forcing her into sexual acts four times during July 2026, recording these acts without her consent, as well as threatening and insulting her. Authorities have initiated a case file against him for multiple counts of rape, sexual abuse, personal data violation, and domestic violence.

The case has been split into two parts: misdemeanors including domestic threat and breach of household peace are being handled by the Thessaloniki One-Member Misdemeanors Court via an immediate trial procedure. Meanwhile, felony charges, including rape and unauthorized recording of personal data, are subject to a separate investigation, with the prosecutor ordering a technical forensic examination of the officer's mobile phone to gather further evidence.

Separately, a distinct incident occurred on August 24, 2026, where a 44-year-old man was arrested in Thessaloniki after his 35-year-old estranged wife reported that he forced her into sexual acts, struck her, and held her against her will in their apartment. This suspect is also awaiting appearance before a prosecutor.
