Police officer arrested in Thessaloniki for sexual assault and domestic violence

A 48-year-old police officer was arrested in Thessaloniki, Greece, on Saturday, August 22, 2026, following allegations of sexual abuse and domestic violence filed by his 51-year-old former partner. The arrest was executed by officers from the Domestic Violence Response Office of the Ampelokipi-Menemeni police department after a case file was compiled by the Delta department.

The victim reported that during July 2026, the suspect forced her to engage in sexual acts against her will on four separate occasions. Additionally, she accused the officer of secretly recording her without consent during their cohabitation, as well as threatening and verbally abusing her. The charges against the officer include serial rape, abuse of sexual position, violation of personal data protection laws, and domestic violence.

The suspect has been taken into custody and is scheduled to be brought before a public prosecutor to face the charges. The investigation into these allegations is ongoing as authorities proceed with the legal process.
