Authorities search for three missing individuals in Cyprus

Cypriot authorities are conducting search operations for three individuals who went missing between August 23 and August 24, 2026. Two teenagers, 15-year-old Nikoletta Iakovou and 16-year-old Sotiroula Oikonomidou, were reported missing from their residences in Nicosia. Nikoletta is 1.50m tall with short brown hair, last seen wearing a white and pink crop top and black tracksuit. Sotiroula is 1.60m tall with brown hair and eyes, last seen in a beige top and black leggings. The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department is leading the investigation into their whereabouts.

Simultaneously, a 75-year-old woman, Erato Athanasiou, remains missing from the community of Tsakistra. She was last seen on the morning of August 23 after telling her husband she was going for a walk. A crisis center has been established in Tsakistra, where the Morphou CID, Civil Defense, and volunteers are searching difficult terrain due to her health issues. The police have released public appeals for information regarding all three cases, providing contact numbers for the Nicosia and Morphou departments and the Citizen’s Line.
