Wizz Air becomes official airline partner for Mountain Games Cyprus 2026

The MountMed Institute has announced that low-cost carrier Wizz Air has been named the official airline partner for the Mountain Games Cyprus 2026. This partnership is designed to enhance international accessibility for the upcoming event, which is part of the European project 'Mountain Games: A Celebration of Sports, Culture and Inclusion' funded by the Erasmus+ Sport Programme.

Under this agreement, Wizz Air will facilitate travel for athletes, volunteers, researchers, and visitors arriving from ten European countries involved in the project consortium. The main public event is scheduled to take place in the Troodos Mountains from September 23 to September 26, 2026, coinciding with the 12th European Week of Sport. Organizers state that the collaboration aims to promote inclusion, sustainable mobility, and the development of Cyprus’s mountainous regions as a destination for outdoor recreation.

By leveraging Wizz Air’s extensive route network, the project seeks to broaden participation beyond local borders. The partnership reflects the ongoing effort to integrate international sporting initiatives with regional tourism and cultural development goals in Cyprus.
