EU industrial production value returns to growth in 2025
The European Union’s sold production value returned to growth in 2025, recording a 2.9% increase in constant prices compared to 2024. This marks the first annual rise since 2022, following two years of decline where production fell by 1.5% in 2023 and 1.9% in 2024. In nominal terms, the production value reached 6.090 trillion euros in 2025, up from 5.869 trillion euros in the previous year.
According to Eurostat, the data at constant prices is adjusted to remove the impact of inflation using 2021 as a reference year. Among the top five manufacturing sectors, food products led the growth with a 3.8% increase in constant prices compared to 2024, reflecting an 11.2% rise since 2015. Historical data reveals a period of steady growth between 2015 and 2018, followed by a slight decline in 2019 and a significant drop in 2020 due to external shocks.
This recovery indicates a stabilization in the European manufacturing sector after a decade characterized by significant fluctuations. While no specific future projections were provided, the current figures suggest a positive trend for the EU economy as it attempts to move past the consecutive declines observed in previous years.
