President Christodoulides hosts top performing students from national exams

On August 24, 2026, the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, hosted the top-performing students from the recent national examinations at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia. The event was also attended by the Minister of Education, Sport and Youth, Athena Michaelidou. The meeting served as a forum for the President to congratulate the students and their families for their academic success while discussing their intended fields of study and the effectiveness of school-based career guidance programs.

During the discussion, President Christodoulides highlighted that Cyprus maintains one of the highest percentages of high school and technical school graduates who choose to pursue higher education. He emphasized that the country’s greatest asset is its human capital. Consequently, he underscored the urgent need for these graduates to return to Cyprus for employment upon completing their studies abroad. The President noted that the government is actively implementing various incentives to attract Cypriot talent back home, aiming to reverse brain drain and strengthen the local workforce. He expressed satisfaction regarding the current trend of an increasing number of Cypriots returning to the country for professional opportunities.
