Omonia Nicosia signs goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski
Omonia Nicosia has officially completed the signing of 33-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski from Charlton Athletic. The agreement, finalized on August 28, 2026, is structured as a one-year loan with an option to purchase the player for an additional two-year term. Kaminski previously played in the Cypriot league for Anorthosis and brings significant experience, including spells at Luton Town in the Premier League and Blackburn Rovers.
The transfer was prompted by Omonia's need to strengthen their squad for European competitions. Following Kaminski's arrival, the club has decided to part ways with Nigerian goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, who is currently in advanced talks to join Omonia 29M. Concurrently, Omonia remains in active negotiations to sign Greek international midfielder Tasos Bakasetas from Panathinaikos, with the club aiming to leverage their qualification for the Europa League league phase to secure the deal.
While rumors suggested interest from Ludogorets and clubs in the Middle East, Omonia successfully navigated the competition to secure the Belgian international's services. Kaminski has already begun his tenure with the team, emphasizing his desire to compete for domestic titles and participate in European matches.
