Lifeguards rescue three-year-old child and four adults at Lady’s Mile

On the afternoon of Monday, August 24, 2026, at approximately 17:50, a rescue operation was launched at the Lady’s Mile beach in Limassol, between the Oceania and Columbia areas. A three-year-old child who could not swim was swept out to sea on an inflatable boat due to strong winds after briefly moving out of their father's sight. Upon noticing the child drifting away, the father and three friends entered the water in an attempt to reach the toddler, but they became exhausted and had to call for help.

Personnel from the Limassol Lifeguard Unit (LEM 17) responded immediately, arriving just ten minutes before the end of their shift. They successfully located the panicked child, provided a life jacket, and utilized a jet ski to transport the toddler safely back to shore. The four adults were also brought to safety. No injuries were reported in what was identified as the 17th such incident at this location during the current season. The child was reunited with their family following the rescue.
