Three-year-old rescued at Lady’s Mile beach in Limassol

On the afternoon of Monday, August 24, 2026, at approximately 17:50, a rescue operation took place at Lady’s Mile beach in Limassol, Cyprus, between the Oceania and Columbia areas. A three-year-old child, who was unable to swim, was swept out to sea on an inflatable boat by strong winds after momentarily escaping the supervision of their father.

Upon realizing the danger, the father and three of his friends attempted to swim out to reach the child. However, they soon became exhausted and began calling for help. The Limassol Lifeguard Unit (LEM 17 – Lady’s Mile) responded immediately to the scene. Lifeguards reached the panicked child on the inflatable, secured them with a life jacket, and transported them safely back to the shore using a jet ski. All four adults were also brought to safety by the rescue team.

This incident highlights the dangers of sudden offshore currents and wind conditions for children on inflatable devices. No further actions, such as legal or medical procedures, were reported by the sources beyond the successful rescue of all individuals involved.
