Cyprus police conduct nationwide preventive operations resulting in six arrests

On the night of August 24-25, 2026, the Cyprus Police carried out a series of coordinated, nationwide preventive operations across urban areas. The primary objectives of these actions were to prevent serious criminal activity, maintain public order, and enhance the public's sense of security.

During these operations, law enforcement officers intercepted and checked 446 drivers and 131 passengers. Additionally, 38 commercial premises were inspected, resulting in two formal reports. Traffic enforcement was a significant focus, yielding 246 traffic-related citations and 14 ongoing investigations. Notably, 68 of these citations were issued for speeding, and eight vehicles were impounded by the police.

Six individuals were arrested for various offenses, including theft from a motor vehicle, illegal stay in the Republic of Cyprus, drug possession, and assaulting a police officer. These measures represent a continuation of ongoing efforts by local authorities to combat delinquency and enforce traffic laws throughout the country.
