Panathinaikos basketball team begins 2026-27 preseason under Zeljko Obradovic
On Monday, August 25, 2026, the Panathinaikos basketball team officially commenced its preparations for the 2026-27 season. The first practice session took place at the auxiliary court of the Telekom Center Athens, marking the beginning of the new era under coach Zeljko Obradovic, who was seen instructing players including Kostas Sloukas and Mathias Lessort.
A significant number of key players were absent from the opening session due to their ongoing obligations with their respective national teams. These players include Dinos Mitoglou, Panagiotis Kalaitzakis, Dimitris Moraitis, Juancho Hernangomez, Isaac Bonga, Sylvain Francisco, and Brancou Badio. Additionally, Kendrick Nunn was not present on the court as he continues a rehabilitation program following a knee injury. To compensate for these absences and facilitate training, the club has integrated several auxiliary players, including Vasilis Mouratos, Ilias Trikkas, Tyler Peterson, Iasonas Varvaritis, Michalis Liapis, Tilemachos Vissariou, Linos Chrysikopoulos, and Ryan Soulis.
The club officially signaled the start of the season through social media channels, highlighting the return of Obradovic to the helm of the team. The players will continue their training schedule at the T-Center as they prepare for the upcoming competitive season.
